Managers and agronomists visited production sites throughout the holding to assess crop conditions and review the performance of the technologies applied during the current growing season.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The field marathon aimed to establish a shared understanding of the season across all enterprises. Participants compared crop development under different soil and weather conditions, exchanged practical experience and evaluated agronomic decisions directly in commercial fields rather than relying solely on reports and forecasts.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>From demonstration plots to commercial fields<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The route covered the fields of Atameken-Agro, Dikhan Plus, Atameken-Agro-Korneyevka, Atameken-Agro-Esil, Shatilo &amp; K, Atameken-Agro-Timiryazevo, Sagat-SK, Michurinskiy, Atameken-Agro-Shukyrkol, Atameken-Agro-Tselinny and Astyk-Mol.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At each enterprise, the participants inspected both commercial crops and demonstration plots established to test new crop protection products, technologies and individual elements of modern farming systems.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Testing new solutions under commercial conditions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Particular attention was given to field trials carried out jointly with First Agrochemical Company LLP. New herbicides, insecticides and fungicides were tested at Atameken-Agro-Esil and Atameken-Agro-Korneyevka.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In cereal crops, the specialists assessed a chlormequat chloride-based plant growth regulator. The product is designed to strengthen stems, reduce the risk of lodging and improve the overall resilience of the crop stand.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The participants also reviewed the performance of the soil-applied herbicide Gardo Gold in maize. The demonstration plots showed strong weed control, allowing the crop to make more effective use of soil moisture, sunlight and available nutrients.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lentils: assessing sowing dates and production practices<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The lentil trials compared early and late sowing dates, fertilised and unfertilised plots and different seeding rates.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some of the practical benefits were already visible during the visit. The demonstration area included durum wheat, soft wheat, lentils and sunflower sown on 15 April. By 14 July, Atameken-Agro-Esil had already started harvesting its early-sown lentils, highlighting the potential of early planting to bring the crop forward to maturity.\nFinal conclusions, however, will depend on harvested yield, grain quality and production economics.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Growth regulation in rapeseed and sunflower<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In rapeseed, the participants examined plant growth regulators used to limit excessive stem elongation and encourage lateral branching.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When applied correctly, these products can support the development of shorter, more compact plants with a greater number of productive branches and pods. They may also help the crop mature more evenly and reduce harvesting risks.\nThe sunflower programme included an assessment of Architect, a product used to manage plant height, strengthen stems and improve crop structure. A more uniform stand can make mechanical harvesting more efficient and help reduce potential field losses.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clean fields protect yield potential<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The tour also included sunflower fields treated with Corteva\u2019s Heliantex herbicide for the control of broadleaf weeds.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Field observations showed that timely application at the recommended rate provided a high level of weed control. This becomes particularly important when rainfall is limited, as weeds compete directly with the crop for moisture and nutrients.\nEffective weed management therefore protects more than the appearance of a field \u2014 it helps preserve the crop\u2019s yield potential.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rapeseed: comparing different row-spacing systems<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rapeseed planted at row spacings of 35 and 70 centimetres attracted particular interest. The crops were established using a Horsch Maestro precision planter purchased the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The wider-row system produced encouraging results. Individual plants had more room to develop and formed stronger lateral branches. Plant growth regulators were also used on these plots to support a more balanced crop structure.\nThe final comparison will consider not only plant development, but also yield, crop uniformity, weed control and harvesting efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>New crops and broader rotation options<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At Sagat-SK, participants inspected a new crop for the enterprise \u2014 confectionery, or striped, sunflower.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Unlike conventional oilseed sunflower, confectionery varieties are mainly supplied to the food industry. With a reliable market and established sales channels, the crop could provide a promising opportunity to diversify production and create additional value.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The enterprise also presented experimental safflower plots. Safflower is well adapted to dry conditions and can maintain relatively stable production when soil moisture is limited. This makes it a potential option for diversifying crop rotations and managing weather-related risks.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparing to receive the new harvest<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The programme extended beyond the fields and included visits to new grain infrastructure facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Participants reviewed the construction of a new elevator in Presnovka with a simultaneous storage capacity of 30,000 tonnes. The facility is scheduled to begin operations in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another modern elevator, with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes, has been built at Atameken-Agro-Tselinny and is also expected to open this year.\nThe new facilities will expand the Group\u2019s capacity to receive, clean, dry and store grain. Higher handling capacity should reduce vehicle queues and machinery downtime during the busiest weeks of the harvest campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>The main test of the season lies ahead<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The field marathon has concluded, but the most important stage of the agricultural year is only beginning.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The harvest results will provide the final measure of the new crop protection products, planting systems and agronomic practices reviewed during the tour. Yield, crop quality and economic performance will ultimately determine which solutions should be refined, repeated or introduced on a larger scale.\nAt this stage, the enterprises of the Atameken-Agro
