Atameken-Agro Expands Cooperation with Belgium: From Modern Agricultural Technologies to Advanced Processing

Atameken-Agro is strengthening its international partnerships with leading Belgian equipment manufacturers and technology providers. A new milestone in this cooperation was the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Desmet during the fourth meeting of the Kazakhstan–Belgium Business Council. The agricultural holding’s ties with Belgian businesses already have a practical foundation: the company also works with agricultural machinery manufacturer JOSKIN, whose solutions are used in the Group’s livestock projects.

On 13 October 2026, Astana hosted the fourth meeting of the Kazakhstan–Belgium Business Council, attended by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium. The event served as a platform for strengthening trade and economic ties, developing investment cooperation, and implementing joint projects in key sectors of the economy.

During the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan emphasised the importance of increasing agricultural productivity, expanding agricultural processing, and introducing modern technologies. These priorities open up new opportunities for cooperation between Kazakhstani enterprises and Belgian partners.

One of the key highlights of the Business Council was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Atameken-Agro JSC and the Belgian company Desmet, which specialises in engineering solutions and processing equipment for vegetable oils.

The signing ceremony took place on 13 October 2026, with the participation of Kintal Islamov, Chairman of the Management Board of Atameken-Agro, and Olivier Hann, President of Desmet.

The document provides for cooperation in developing engineering solutions and supplying processing equipment for the construction of Atameken-Agro’s oil extraction plant (OEP).

The project is currently being implemented within the QYZYLJAR Special Economic Zone in Petropavlovsk. The future plant will incorporate modern automated technologies for processing oilseeds and producing vegetable oils.

The construction of the oil extraction plant is one of the agricultural holding’s strategic development priorities. The project will expand the production chain — from growing agricultural raw materials to manufacturing higher value-added products.

The project also aims to develop the domestic processing industry, create new jobs, and strengthen Kazakhstan’s export potential.

The Business Council also featured a thematic discussion titled “How Belgian Technologies Help Develop a Competitive and Sustainable Agri-Food Sector”. Participants discussed opportunities to introduce advanced technological solutions, improve agricultural production efficiency, and develop Kazakhstan’s processing industry.

The discussion featured Kintal Islamov, Chairman of the Management Board of Atameken-Agro; Olivier Hann, President of Desmet; Henri-François Vandeputte, CEO of Vandeputte Huilerie; Dimitri de Sûre, CEO of De Smet Engineers & Contractors; Sergey Glokke, Chief Operating Officer of Eurasia Group; and Daulet Uvashev, Director of Harvest Agro Holding LLP. The session was moderated by Julie Kussidi, Director General of the European Business Association of Kazakhstan (EUROBAK).

The signing of the memorandum with Desmet marks a further step in Atameken-Agro’s cooperation with Belgian companies. Another partner of the agricultural holding is JOSKIN, an international manufacturer of agricultural machinery whose areas of expertise include equipment for livestock enterprises.

As part of the modernisation of its livestock operations, Atameken-Agro previously purchased JOSKIN machinery, including a VOLUMETRA tanker with a vacuum pump, a tipping trailer, and a livestock trailer. This equipment is intended to improve the efficiency of production and logistics processes at the Group’s livestock facilities.

By developing partnerships with international companies, Atameken-Agro continues to strengthen its position in the agricultural market, invest in modern technologies, and lay the foundation for long-term sustainable development.
