Atameken-Agro and Desmet strengthen cooperation on Kazakhstan oilseed processing complex

Atameken-Agro, a major Kazakh agricultural holding company and Desmet NV, a leading Belgian solutions provider for the food, feed and biofuel industrie have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) covering the engineering and supply of process equipment for the second phase of an oilseed-processing complex in Kazakhstan.

The multi-million-euro project includes the delivering of a state-of-the-art, fully automated vegetable oil refinery, further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the agri-food sector.

The signing ceremony took place with Kintal Islamov, Chairman of the Board of Atameken-Agro and Olivier Hanne, President of Desmet on October 13 2026, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the agro business value chain with further industrialisation from feedstock to end products and contributing to a more sustainable agricultural development.

This partnership aims to enhance local value addition, create new jobs, and support Kazakhstan’s ambition to become a regional leader in vegetable oil production. Desmet is committed to strengthening its presence in Kazakhstan, which it regards as a priority region and an important geographical location for agribusiness development. The project underscores Atameken-Agro’s dedication to advancing the country’s agro-industrial capabilities and Desmet’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions.
