Atameken-Agro Explores Advanced Rapeseed Production Practices in Belarus
Yertay Kanafin, Head of Agronomy at Atameken-Agro and Alexander Materov, Chief Agronomist at Atameken-Agro Korneevka LLP, joined an industry study tour to Belarus from 6 to 10 July 2026. Organised by Syngenta Kazakhstan LLP and Rapool Kazakhstan LLP, the programme focused on modern approaches to spring rapeseed cultivation, crop management and oilseed processing.
“During the visit, we saw how Belarusian farms manage winter and spring rapeseed, wheat, corn and other crops under different production conditions. We met with local producers, discussed their practical experience and reviewed crop nutrition and protection programmes used in the field. It was especially useful to compare approaches to rapeseed cultivation across different soil types and climatic zones. Many of the practices we observed could be adapted to Atameken-Agro’s operations,” said Yertay Kanafin.
The itinerary included a visit to a BELAZ facility, part of BELAZ-HOLDING, as well as the Pervomaisky Agricultural Production Cooperative and several businesses operated by the Sodrugestvo Group. Among them were Belagroterminal LLC and an oil extraction plant in the Grodno Region, one of the Eurasian Economic Union’s major processing facilities for rapeseed, sunflower seed and flaxseed.
The delegation also visited the Snov Agricultural Complex in the Minsk Region. The enterprise operates an integrated production model that combines crop farming, livestock production and the processing of agricultural products.
In the Brest Region, participants toured the Fortuna farm, where liquid compound fertilisers are widely used in winter and spring rapeseed production. They also reviewed the experience of Agro Kolyadichi OJSC, which grows spring rapeseed on sandy loam and peat soils and applies integrated crop nutrition and protection programmes.
The tour provided a practical opportunity to exchange expertise, assess modern agricultural solutions and build professional contacts. It also gave participants a broader view of Belarusian agriculture, as well as the country’s history and culture.
